Meet the head instructor: Joey
Having studied Teaching Methodology at the University of Puerto Rico and previously worked as a Physical Education teacher, Joey provides a unique and thorough learning experience that you simply can’t get anywhere else. Joey was raised in the northwestern region of Puerto Rico, within a community deeply imbedded in surf culture, and consequently his love for surfing is as deep as they come. His deep passion for surfing, combined with his teaching experience and methodical techniques, is the perfect combination for a top tier surfing experience. For Joey, surfing is a lifestyle, and it fills him with great joy to share the magic behind it with each and every one of his students.
As the island’s most consistent wave, Jobos Beach has been the host location for many professional surfing events, including the 2013 Rip Curl Pro. It’s unique topography however, creates forgiving conditions that make it the perfect beginner friendly surf spot. It’s also home to Pozo de Jacinto, a pit cave enveloped in folklore. And with top rated restaurants and bars all around, you’re always just a hop away from a Piña Colada or an Empanada.
